Two Important Numbers

Two Important Numbers

There are two important phone numbers in San Diego County that could be a life-saver for your family or a friend.

If you or a family member is experiencing a mental health crisis, you can call or text 9-8-8, 24 hours a day. Continue to use 9-1-1 if you're in an emergency or a crisis, but the new Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is for anyone who is suicidal or in any other mental health crisis. You will be transferred to a trained mental health professional who can provide support. Tragically, a person commits suicide every 12 minutes in the United States. We must do all we can to provide the resources for those who are suffering. Remember, 9-8-8 is always available.

Also, if you need immediate help with community, health, and disaster services, dial 2-1-1, 24 hours a day. There are over 6,000 social services in San Diego County and 211 will connect you with the resources you need. Whether you're struggling to pay your utility bills, in need of shelter, or don't have money for food, just dial 211.

Remember These Two Numbers:

If you or a family member is experiencing suicidal thoughts or mental health crisis, you can call or text 9-8-8, 24 hours a day.

If you need immediate help with community, health, and disaster services, dial 2-1-1, 24 hours a day.
