Living in San Diego County, the threat of a wildfire is constant. I'm always amazed by the bravery of firefighters who protect our community. With all of their gear on, in usually scorching temperatures, they run towards the fire, while we all evacuate.
The month of October is Fire Prevention Month and we celebrate and honor all our San Diego firefighters and first responders. At this week's Board meeting, I had the privilege of honoring the San Marcos Fire Department!
As the former mayor of San Marcos, I've worked closely with them and am proud of all the work they do to protect our community. Earlier this year, the SMFD earned a Class 1 ISO (Insurance Service Office) rating which not only is the highest/best rating, but it also reflects the City’s commitment to public safety. Congratulations!
