Fire Safety

Fire Safety

The threat of a fire is constant, especially for those living in the unincorporated area of San Diego County. It's not a question of if but when the next major event will occur.

But, we work proactively to prepare and protect lives and property, giving residents and firefighters the tools and resources they need to reduce the severity and stay safe.

Supervisor Anderson and I initiated a review of evacuation corridors for brush clearing to increase the safety for those evacuating. County Fire and the Department of Public Works have identified over 200 lane miles (many of which are in North County) of critical evacuation corridors that will receive additional roadside vegetation management.

Take a look at the map below to see where the roadside vegetation management will take place in North County.

This program is part of a comprehensive pre-fire strategy created by County Fire to reduce the risk of property loss and loss of lives. I am proud of the work that has been done when it comes to fire safety and will continue to look for ways we can prevent and manage fires. As always, if you have any ideas or questions, please feel free to reach out, [email protected].
