San Diego County is becoming unaffordable for the very people who make it work.
Middle-class families — teachers, nurses, small business owners, trades workers, and retirees — are being squeezed from every direction. They earn too much to qualify for assistance, but not nearly enough to absorb constant tax hikes, rising fees, exploding utility bills, and higher insurance costs.
Now, instead of fixing government waste and runaway bureaucracy, local leaders are proposing even more taxes and fees — pushing working families closer to the breaking point.
This is why Supervisor Jim Desmond is bringing forward a Board Letter calling for a pause on new taxes and fees and demanding accountability before asking residents to pay more.
But he needs to show the Board something powerful:
The voices of the people who are being forgotten.
That’s where you come in.
