A car seat is not optional equipment, and it is not cheap. For a lot of families, replacing one that a child has outgrown means putting off something else.
Supervisor Jim Desmond, the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, the Oceanside Police Officers' Association, and the County of San Diego are teaming up to give away free car seats to local families in San Marcos.

10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
San Marcos Sheriff Substation
182 Santar Place, San Marcos, CA 92069
Stop by and our partners will help you find the right seat for your child's age and size. There is no cost. Car seats are available while supplies last, so coming early is a good idea.
"Keeping our little ones safe, one car seat at a time," said Supervisor Jim Desmond. "Our deputies see what happens when a child is not properly restrained. This is one of the simplest ways we can prevent that."
