I was honored to recognize the incredible work of the Palomar College Rising Scholars Program, which has been transforming lives since its founding in 2018 by a formerly incarcerated professor who believes in the power of education.
This program, part of the statewide California Community College Rising Scholars Network, serves thousands of currently and formerly incarcerated students, providing education and career training that significantly reduces recidivism rates.
In just six years, it has impacted nearly 900 students, including veterans, empowering them to achieve degrees and certifications that positively influence families and communities for generations.
Thank you to the Palomar College Rising Scholars Team for your dedication and leadership. It was my privilege to join the County in proclaiming December 10, 2024, as “Palomar College Rising Scholars Program Day” in San Diego County.
