Remembering Arie De Jong

With a heavy heart, we adjourn today's meeting in honor of Arie de Jong Jr, a man whose life embodied the true meaning of faith, family, and community.

His passing is a significant loss to his family and loved ones and the entire San Diego community, where he made a lasting impact through his business ventures and philanthropic efforts.

Born in the Netherlands in 1939, Arie de Jong Jr. immigrated to the United States with his family in 1949. Growing up, he faced many challenges, but he persevered, working hard to build a legacy that would make a difference in the lives of others. As a successful entrepreneur, Arie owned and operated several businesses, including Hollandia Dairy, a San Marcos landmark in the community for decades. His other ventures, such as a portable toilet business, drinking water company, dairy, hog farm, and goat dairy, were a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and drive.

Despite his success in the business world, Arie's dedication to giving back truly set him apart. His philanthropic efforts were remarkable, particularly in helping those suffering from addiction and self-destructive disorders. Together with his family, Arie purchased and operated Green Oak Ranch Ministries, a non-denominational Christian recovery and restoration center that has helped countless individuals turn their lives around.

Arie's devotion to his family was evident in everything he did, and his unwavering support was a constant source of strength and comfort to them all. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his love for his family was a testament to the kind of person he was.

Today, we honor Arie de Jong Jr. for the remarkable person he was and the impact he made on the world. His legacy and contributions to San Diego will continue to prosper, and his philanthropic spirit will live forever. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, let us take comfort in knowing that his impact on the world will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his entire family during this difficult time. May God bless them and give them the strength to carry on his remarkable legacy.
