Restore the American Dream of Homeownership in San Diego County

Nine out of ten San Diego County families can't afford to buy a home. The median home price has hit $1 million. Teachers, nurses, firefighters, and young families who grew up here are being forced out of the community they love.

I'm adding my name in support of Supervisor Jim Desmond's "Restoring Homeownership for San Diegans" proposal, which calls on the County to develop a locally funded, locally controlled pilot program to help first-time homebuyers — including down payment assistance, interest rate buydown options, and public-private partnerships with financial institutions — with built-in safeguards to protect taxpayers.

Owning a home means dignity, stability, and the chance to build a future. Our teachers, first responders, and working families shouldn't have to leave San Diego to achieve the American Dream.

Add your name if you agree: it's time to restore homeownership for San Diegans.
