Today, at our Board of Supervisors meeting, we had the honor of recognizing an exceptional group that's making a significant difference in the lives of our military veterans and their spouses.
With over 290,000 unemployed veterans facing the challenges of transitioning into the civilian workforce, finding and maintaining employment can be a daunting task. Many veterans struggle with missing skills and other obstacles, hindering their successful transition into the job market.
That's where VETS – Beyond the Uniform steps in. This organization was established to bridge this gap and combat the high rates of veteran unemployment by facilitating the successful transformation of military veterans into civilian roles, whether as employers, employees, or entrepreneurs. They achieve this through a comprehensive range of services, including over 250 workshops and certification courses, specialized assessments, one-on-one coaching, and mentoring, all provided at no cost to veterans and military spouses.
But their impact doesn't stop there. VETS – Beyond the Uniform extends its support to veteran organizations such as the Veterans Association of North County (VANC), The Rosie Network (TRN), The Woman Veteran’s Alliance (WVA), and many others. They also work tirelessly to assist employers in creating Veteran Friendly Organizations, showcasing the power of "Veterans Helping Veterans."
On behalf of our community and our veterans, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to VETS – Beyond the Uniform for their unwavering dedication to securing a prosperous future for those who have served our country. Your commitment is making a profound and positive impact on countless lives.
