Protect Women's Sports in San Diego County

It should not be controversial to say that men should not compete in women’s sports—but unfortunately, this is where we are. Female athletes across the country are losing scholarships, opportunities, and even suffering injuries due to unfair competition.

That’s why San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond is bringing forward a board letter to support H.R.28 – The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. This legislation ensures that biological males cannot compete in sports designated for women and girls in federally funded programs, protecting fairness, safety, and equal opportunities for female athletes.

Why This Matters:

Protects fairness – Female athletes should not have to compete against biological males with physical advantages.
Preserves opportunities – Scholarships, team spots, and championships should be reserved for women and girls.
Ensures safety – We’ve already seen cases where biological males competing in women’s sports have caused serious injuries to female athletes.

Real-World Consequences:

🚨 A high school volleyball player suffered partial paralysis after a trans-identified male spiked a ball at her.
🚨 A girls' basketball team had to forfeit a game after multiple female players were injured.
🚨 Collegiate teams are protesting unfair competition and facing legal battles over Title IX violations.

We must take a stand for fairness, safety, and the integrity of women’s sports in San Diego County.
