Under this plan, the County would apply a new real estate transfer fee every time you sell your home. I believe this is an outrageous and harmful idea, especially for seniors, working families, and longtime homeowners who have spent decades building equity.
For most people, their home is their nest egg. It’s their retirement plan. It’s how they’ve built generational wealth. Punishing someone for selling their home—often to downsize, retire, or support their family—is not just wrong, it’s dangerous public policy.
We are already living in one of the most expensive regions in the country. Between high property taxes, fire insurance hikes, utility bills, and skyrocketing housing costs, Californians are stretched thin. Now, politicians want to grab even more of the little financial security people have left?
Enough is enough.
I oppose this new home sale tax—and I’m fighting it every step of the way.
We should be protecting seniors and homeowners, not punishing them with new fees and bureaucratic cash grabs. Our focus must be on lowering costs and giving people the ability to stay in the communities they love—not forcing them out.
This is the kind of reckless policy that is driving people to leave California.
It’s time to push back and restore common sense.
If you agree, add your name today. Together, we can stop this harmful tax.
